CV:
Andrei Skitsyou is a Belarusian artist and senior lecturer.
Since 2000, he has been teaching at the Department of Design at the Institute of Contemporary Knowledge named after A. M. Shirokov. In 2005, he became a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists.
His scholarly and creative interests include active participation in national exhibition projects, as well as the organization and presentation of solo exhibitions. In his teaching practice, he conducts courses in academic drawing and academic painting.
The artist’s creative career includes a number of significant projects. In 1998, he realized the work Dance at the National Theatre in Prague. In 1999, he held the solo exhibition The Alphabet of Weaving at Gallery AV in Minsk, followed in 2000 by the solo exhibition Metisses at the Museum of Contemporary Fine Art in Minsk. In 2001–2002, Skitsyou participated in the group exhibitions Stilllife (Gallery Zolota) and Through the Window (Gallery Zyamlya Lyudzey) in Minsk.
In 2003, he presented the solo exhibition Chronicle of a Place at the gallery of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. Subsequent solo projects — An Indeterminate State (2007, Maksim Bahdanovich Museum), Notebook (2009), and Love for the Other (2011) — were shown at the Museum of Contemporary Fine Art in Minsk. In 2012, the artist took part in the group exhibition A Certain Time at the Gallery of Contemporary Art “Ў”.
In 2014, he presented the solo exhibition The Modest Attractiveness of Belarus at the Gallery of Contemporary Art “Ў” in Minsk. In 2016, a series of graphic works was shown in solo exhibitions in Ivano-Frankivsk and at the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv (Ukraine). In 2018, a solo exhibition of graphic works was held at the Palace of Arts in Minsk.
Education:
Andrei Leonidovich Skitsyou graduated in 1994 from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, specializing in monumental and decorative art.
