A.R.C.H. (Mikhail Senkov) — A Belarusian artist known for his works in the Art Brut style*. Lives and works in Minsk.

Mikhail was born in 1982 in Zhodino. He graduated from the A. K. Glebov Minsk Art College and the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, specializing in easel painting.

At the end of 2011, his first solo exhibition titled “Like in a Terrifying Fairy Tale” took place at the Ў Gallery of Contemporary Art in Minsk.

In 2012, he presented the solo project Game Over at the ART VILNIUS art festival (Lithuania).

To date, A.R.Ch. has also participated in a large number of group exhibitions. The artist’s works (painting, graphics, small-format graphics) are held in private collections in Austria, Belarus, Poland, Russia, and Sweden. Altogether, the artist has created more than 400 works.

* Art Brut (from French art brut — “raw art,” here meaning unprocessed, unrefined art) is a movement in visual art that emerged in the mid-20th century. The term was introduced in 1945 by the French artist Jean Dubuffet to describe his collection of works created by psychiatric patients, children, non-European “outsiders,” and primitive artists. He firmly believed that this kind of art is the most honest and free from stereotypical influence. Such works are highly spontaneous in nature and largely independent of cultural conventions.
